Studies of the Calligraphy of Professor WONG Wai Cheong 黃維琩教授書法欣賞

I wish to share with you the art of my Calligraphy teacher, Professor WONG Wai Cheong 黃維琩教授.

Professor WONG Wai Cheong (1902 – 1993) was a well-known Chinese literature scholar and Calligrapher. Coming from a highly educated family in Shun De (順德), Guang Dong (廣東), Professor Wong graduated from Guangzhou Zhongshan University (中山大學) with double degrees. He was both a lawyer and a certified accountant and he held senior positions in the Guangzhou government. Professor Wong migrated to Hong Kong around the 1950s and taught at various secondary and tertiary education institutions. His contributions to Chinese education were significant. He had publications of his own poems and lecture notes.

 

Professor Wong was famous for his clerical scripts especially the styles of ‘Cao Quan’ (曹全碑) and ‘Zhang Qian’ (張遷碑). He was also famous for his running scripts and regular scripts especially small regular scripts. He had many other specialties such as oracle scripts, bronze scripts and seal scripts.

作者無考，東漢無名氏，附會蘇武詩。是送別的詩歌。

語譯: 祝愿您尊崇德行高尚的人啊，時時刻刻珍惜光陰。(蘇子卿 : 蘇武, 西漢大臣, 出使匈奴。被扣留, 牧羊。居匈奴十九年持節不屈, 後獲釋回漢。)
