Ip Chit Hoo – Chinese Painting with Broad Tip Markers
Mr IP Chit Hoo was a master artist of Chinese Painting. He explored different methods to teach students with various media. Some of his students were western artists and they were more competent in drawing with stiff pens as Chinese brushes were too soft. Mr Ip demonstrated with broad tip markers in traditional brushstrokes. These drawings are invaluable to artists.
As Chinese artworks are drawn with painting brushes, people call them paintings. I would rather call some of them ‘drawings’ as they usually emphasize on the beauty of the lines and the artwork is more impromptu.
