Great Masters of Landscape Painting in Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms (五代十國)(c. 907–979) and Northern Song (北宋)(960 – 1127) periods
Great artists like Jing Hao (荊浩)(c. 855-915), Guan Tong (關仝)(c. 906 – 960), Li Cheng ( 李成)( 919 – 967), Dong Yuan (董源)(c. 934 – c. 962), Ju Ran ( 巨然) (dates unknown), Fan Kuan ( 范寬)(c. 960 – c. 1030), Guo Xi (郭熙)(1000 – c. 1087), Mi Fu (米芾) (1051–1107) and Mi Youren (米友仁) (1074－1153) were nine of the great masters of landscape painting in Five Dynasties (五代)(907–960), Ten Kingdoms (十國) (c. 907–979) and Northern Song (北宋)(960–1127) periods. They all executed vertical panoramas in an artistic and poetic way. Some artists eg Dong Yuan and Mi Youren also executed (horizontal) long scrolls. Their influence is tremendous. Their paintings are regarded as the ‘Orthodox (正統)’ landscape paintings. People follow this style generations after generations even to the present day.
